Call of Duty Creators Making A Comeback

There is some interesting news that has been announced where the game developer Respawn Entertainment is going to attend the summer gaming convention E3 and are most likely to show off their new game.

Tweets from Vince Zamplella of Respawn

In case you didn’t know, Respawn Entertainment was created by Jason West and Vince Zampella who founded Infinity Ward. They essentially led the team in creating the Call of Duty Franchise to what it is today starting with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 games.

There were legal battles between them and Activision, who own Infinity Ward, about them being fired but I’m not going to talk about that here.

What I will say is that many staff members that who worked with West and Zampella on the Modern Warfare games went with them to Respawn Entertainment.

So now Respawn has the creative team that essentially turned Call of Duty into the powerhouse it is today, and now partnering with EA it looks set to take on its former boss Activision.

As you may of read in my previous post about Call of Duty Black Ops 2, I said that the franchise is going downhill with each game getting worse. I just feel that the game has already peaked and I am losing interest in the franchise as it has essentially been the same game for about 6 years.

My favourite COD will is Modern Warfare 2 because it was the game that made me fall in love with the franchise. Spec ops was a great addition and even though there were some issues in multi-player when it was good, it was very good.

Well what can we expect?

Many gaming fans out there have been waiting a long time for something to be announced from West and Zampella, with many saying it is going to be the COD killer.

Rumours suggest it would be a futuristic space first person shooter and this does sound most likely.

I think the game will be a shooter but I’m not too sure if space is the right direction to go because there are already many successful games like that out there, like Halo and the anticipated release of Destiny from Bungie.

I am definitely excited to see what they have to offer. I just hope that it is something new and not a remake of what they have already done. Will it take down Call of Duty? It is very likely if COD doesn’t improve or re-invent itself.

Let me know what you think in the comments, is this the COD killer?
